Students are expected to be a junior or senior undergraduate during the summer program and must also be a United States Citizen or have permanent residence status.
The REU participants will receive a summer stipend of $4,500 for nine weeks, travel reimbursement of up to $400, and free accommodation at an MIT dorm.
The Submission Window: Applications for the 2016 program will be received from January 1 to 15, 2016. (The deadline to apply for the Summer Institute in Biomedical Optics is January 15, 2016.) Applications may be sent electronically to the email address identified below. Letters must be postmarked no later than January 15, 2016.
It should include:
- A complete, signed, and dated application (PDF) form including a statement of objectives listing details of any applicable research experience
- A PDF copy of an official transcript from your college or university
- Two letters of recommendation with cover sheet (may be emailed) from academic or research supervisors who are familiar with you as a student
